Dog Viciously Attacked - Please Help If You Can!

Gerry catching some tunes at ComFest.
(This is a repost for a friend - if you can spare anything to help this little dog out, it would be appreciated! Please feel free to reblog, retweet & share with all of your animal loving friends!)
Hi friends. I’m asking for just a little bit of help. I’m not riding in the Pelotonia or getting locked up for the MDA. I’m not trying to kickstart one of my creative ideas or fund fabulous public art, but over the years I’ve supported a lot of friends who were doing just that. And now I’d like to call in a few favors on behalf of of one of my four-legged friends.
If you know me, you know that I love dogs and there’s a little guy who could really use a leg up right now.
Gerry (pictured) is an adorable little five year old rat terrier mix who belongs to my friend Andrea. The happy duo were going about their daily morning walk down the alley behind their apartment yesterday morning (on Como in Clintonville of all places) when two German shepherds raced out of their backyard (which apparently has no fence to contain them) and viciously attacked Gerry. Andrea was pretty powerless to fend them off until the neighbors came to her aid and the errant ”owner” (who then even tried to claim they were not actually her dogs) corralled the beasts back into the house.
Andrea rushed Gerry (who had been mauled and treated like a rag doll) to Knapp Veterinary where they performed emergency surgery. The poor little dude coded, but they revived him, patched him up as best they could and she had to transfer him to OSU Veterinary Hospital yesterday afternoon. OSU did secondary (and pretty extreme) surgery to check out all of his internal organs and because in addition to his other injuries Gerry suffered two severe puncture wounds to his abdomen and chest and they had to make sure that they don’t turn septic and cause him further harm so they basically have to “flush out” his body cavity. Since he coded already yesterday they had to wait until this afternoon when he had stabilized before they could put him under anesthesia again. He survived the secondary surgery and he’s in the dog ICU at OSU and we are hopeful for his recovery.
If you have a pet(s), you know they’re like family and we do what we can to help them when they are in need. Andrea’s trying to do the best she can to save her faithful companion. She’s an elder-care social worker who is now facing what’s likely to be $10,000 in vet bills to save her pet due to the negligence of an irresponsible dog owner. While she’ll try to go after the (ir)responsible party, the state of the house where the dogs attacked from does not leave us hopeful. In the meantime she’s got some massive vet bills to pay. So, if you are a dog lover and you can spare $10 to help a puppy out, please consider sending a paypal personal transfer of $10 to seeandream@yahoo.com and send some positive vibes out to little Ger-bear who’s hanging in there at OSU Vet Hospital. I’ll post updates on facebook about Gerry’s status as I get them.
